Killer Ki o Rahi!

Horrifyingly Heedful Holidays!

Hello Bloggers! you may be thinking about what I've been doing for the past two weeks I haven't posted. I was on holiday in various places for two weeks! I spent two days in Akaroa, doing tons of things. I also went to Hanmer Springs hot pools!

Akaroa 

After driving to Akaroa we went to the giant's house. it's an old house on a hill, but the twist is that there is a garden full of mosaics! it's super big, and the owner of the house spent 24 years working on it. We also went to barry's bay cheese. it's a cheese factory, and you can see the process!

Sign Ninja!

 Hello bloggers! today after tech, we played a game about New Zealand Sign Language called 'Sign Ninja.' the aim is to get as many points as possible, and then get a belt on your amount of points. you get points by completing sign language. I learned colors, food, and letters! I know how to say my name in sign language! i'd like to show you!

The International Space Station's new Module...

 Hello bloggers! last week for literacy, we were looking at the ISS. we were asked to make a timeline of the ISS and the introduction of modules and to create a module ourselves to add to the ISS. here's mine!

My Module is a telescope, to observe galaxies light-years away. it can also zoom in to earth!

My Science Experiment!

 Hello bloggers! Over the last few weeks, I have been reporting and documenting my science experiment I have done. my experiment is on capillary action, and the possibilities and boundaries of it. I'm experimenting with flowers and the things they can live on, in my case, fizzy drink. I had 3 bunches. one in blue food coloured water, one in the sprite,  and one in coca-cola. they would be in there in the same conditions for 4 days. would the plants survive? or would they die? would they even drink the fizzy drinks? 

I documented my experiment on Minecraft education edition. here are some pictures or the IRL experiment, and some observation by me. (In no order)

On Day 1 we put the three daffodil bunches in the liquids, Coke, Sprite, and food coloured water. We took a picture of the measurements and the flowers before anything had happened. After this, the flowers barely changed after a few hours of being put in the glasses. Overnight the change started. The main change was that the flowers in the blue food coloured water had changed to hints of blue on the rims of the white flowers. Apart from that, not much else happened.

Day 2 

On day 2 some changes on all started to happen. The coca-cola flower was slowly starting to get smaller, though no apparent colour change had happened. The water flower was getting bluer and when touched, it felt sandpapery and rough.     

Day 3

On day 3 the first apparent changes had happened on coca-cola. The flower was smaller and withered, and the coca-cola had barely been consumed although it had changed. The sprite looked alright actually, and it felt as it was at the start. The blue flower continued to get very blue and sandpapery and had drunk a lot of the water. 

On day 4 the final results were recorded. The blue food coloured water flower is extremely blue, and nearly an inch of water down the side has been drunk. The sprite flower is best off, being able to live off the sugar and other ingredients. At the start of the experiment, I was curious to see the sprite flower at the end since I knew that a little bit of lemonade would lengthen the life, but the sheer amount of sprite would overload it and kill it I did not know.

In the end, it was a very fun and interesting experiment.

Our Amazing maps!

Hello bloggers!  Over the past few Fridays, Mr. G's  Friday maths group have been making maps! The maps Are our own made-up countries and cities, and it has been really fun and interesting to make! I made a country called Obeliskos, and it has lots of different cities and things! Obeliskos has four landmarks: Basalt valleys, which is a deep canyon entirely made of basalt, but shrubs still manage to live there. Industrialis, which is a hulking city that smells of smoke and has millions of residents. Artemis Volcano, with a massive lava lake inside. And Crater City, with a small wild west town inside. with all these landmarks, we needed to make bearings for all of them, figuring how far away from each other they were, and the location on the grid map. Making a PSA in Python!

 Hello Bloogers! (intended) today we blogged our PSA's in python! yes, we coded our own PSAs. it was really fun! I focused mine on littering since it's a big problem everywhere. I see so much plastic and wrappers around Prestons. but I got some pictures of my work! 

This is the code I used for my animation. it's not much, but it creates a steady animation.

So what's happening here is the there's a clump of plastic on the floor, and then the bin twirls around in the air, then comes crashing down to collect the litter. it's quite simple, but effective
